Episode Overview

When you hear “AgePlay,” what comes to mind?

For most, Adult Baby Diaper Lover (ABDL) is more than saying “Who’s your Daddy?” in bed. Adult AgePlay is actually very complex and exists on a continuum, from adults roleplaying as young children to engaging in diaper fetish play.

Within that continuum, there’s another spectrum defining what ABDL means for certain individuals. It could be bedroom fun, a lifestyle, or a coping mechanism.

In this episode, I talk with Dr. Rhoda Lipscomb, a certified sex therapist, and clinical sexologist. Throughout our conversation, Dr. Rhoda breaks down what exactly ABDL is, where it potentially stems from, and what healthy AgePlay looks like alone or with a partner. Dr. Rhoda also shares insights into the unique struggles that those interested in ABDL face, especially when vulnerably sharing this information with another person, and how partners can build trust throughout this process.

Take a listen to learn more about ABDL individuals and their experiences.

Some questions I ask:

  • What does adult age play entail? ([4:37])
  • How does ABDL present sexually? ([12:03])
  • When is a good time to tell your partners about ABDL? ([19:01])
  • When do people first notice their ABDL desires? What causes them? ([24:19])
  • What are some low-risk ways for adults to try ABDL? ([28:47])
  • How can listeners work with you? ([31:45])

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How the shame and embarrassment around ABDL affects individuals. ([7:16])
  • How ABDL functions as a form of feeling secure and nurtured. ([7:54]).
  • The difference between role-playing and regression with age play. ([12:20])
  • Why explaining ABDL to a partner is overwhelming. ([21:35])
  • How ABDL kinks can cross over to BDSM. ([22:19])
  • Where to learn more about ABDL and join communities. ([29:25])
